RE: I need advice on building my own toy hauler

I'm not the weight police. But I'd think you would need a bigger truck to tow that 44' gooseneck trailer.

RE: Towing with 2500 HD Chevy 6L 4:10 rear end

You are not going to be happy towing that big trailer with your truck. It maybe too much if your owner's manual says 10,200 lbs too. But that may be trailer rating and not a 5'er. Good luck.

RE: thinking of quads

For trail riding I would not get anything over a Sportsman 500. I have a Sportsman 700 and a 500. The Sportsman 700 is almost twice as thirsty as the 500, and the 500 does everything the 700 does. I'd get a 400 for the daughter. I made a mistake and bought a 200 for my 14 y/o, and she outgrew that one in a year. Goodluck on your search.

10k on a bumper pull , 15k on a 5'er for a non-commercial class A license.

RE: Winter Towing

If you don't have any experience driving in snow without a trailer, you have no business driving in snow with a trailer. But if you do, take it easy, chain'er up and go slow.

RE: Restoring a nice shine to motorhome exterior

Take it to a car wash and have them wax it for you. Going rate is $10 a foot. They'll quote you high, you counter them lower and they'll do it. I have a 30' trailer, they quoted me $250, I told them $200 and they said sure. Left it there for a few hours and they did a great job.

RE: Toy Haulers.& mini horses

Sounds like you don't need a lot of room for these mini-horses if you only need it to be around 24 inches wide and 54 inces tall. Some of these TH's have lots of room. I'd be more concern about the air circulation since it's there are not a lot of ventilation options when in the travel mode. Mine only has two vents at the bottom of the trailer and I don't think that'd be adequate enough for the horses. The ramp is strong enough to support the weight. You just may want to lay down some 3/4" plywood in the area where the horse will travel and be so it doesn't tear up the original flooring.

RE: Storing Toy Hauler

I leave all my toys in the toyhauler at the storage yard. They are all covered by insurance. I know if the trailer and toys are stolen, I will still be out of pocket a few thousand or so, but I just don't have room in my garage to be storing all the toys.

RE: Suggestions on model or floor plan

Dejr: We have a Polaris X2, Sportsman 700, CanAm 200 and a little 90 and I can just fit them all in to our Rampage 302 TH. It's a bumper pull with no slides and has 17' of cargo space between the door and the counter. The Polaris are huge and will swallow up a ton of space. You will need a open trailer versus a garage. I haven't had any problems with fuel odor while sleeping with the quads on long hauls. Goodluck on your search.

RE: Info on Lite weight TH

Note: They are all heavy after loading them up. Some of the weight stickers on the trailers are before all the options are added on. Just be careful. Goodluck on your search.

RE: New Trailer

We've had our 302 Rampage triple axle for just over 2 years now and have not had any problems. Not as fancy as the Gearbox or Weekend Warrior. But still has all the bells and whistles. ie. generator, flat screen, stereo, large water and holding tank capability. Been very happy with ours.

I'd have to agree that the 2500HD had a 4.10 in it and not the 3.73.

RE: California's SNO-PARK sites

It depends. Some of these snow parks are connected to trails in the Sierra where you can ride your ATV's and MC during the off season. However some of these snow parks are also connected to a paved road that leads to campground or lake. And you cannot ride on those. It's best to contact the National Forest offie in that district for clarification.

RE: 2005 2500 HD 6.0 gas :: Which Service Manual?

Fickman,
To tell you the truth, I have a 1996 Yukon(153,000 miles), 2004 Suburban(38,000) and 2006 Silverado(20,000). And I have not had a likc of trouble with any of these vehicles yet. Granted the suburban and silverdo are practically new. I just change the oil and lube them every 4,000; flush the radiator, change the tranny fluid and diff, and change brake pads. I had to replace one alternator on the Yukon and batteries of course. But cars these days are pretty much trouble free, and if they do act up you can run a programmer to them to help diagnose the problem.
For general maintenance, I'd just get the Chilton book and that would tell you how to do it. Belt schematics are on the fan cowl of the engine. And the scheduled maintenance suggestion in in your owner's manual. So you may not need to get the service book.

RE: 2005 2500 HD 6.0 gas :: Which Service Manual?

I was trying to find the link. But you may be able to give the dealer a call. They should be able to give you the company that you can buy the Service Manuals for your particular truck. Should be available on a CD to load on your computer. They are about $200 for the set but are very detailed.
If your are just lubing and changing oil though, Chilton's or Hayes is just fine. Just pull the plug, drain, change the filter, and pour new oil in. Pretty simple. You may change your brakes, but that is simple. Otherwise any major work I still take to "local" mechanic.
Goodluck.

RE: yosemite np. camping

There are no campgrounds in Yosemite National Park that has full hook ups. They may have stayed at a campground that is outside of the park 20-30 minutes. And they have full hook ups. There are a few in Mariposa and a couple of other's along Hwy 140.

RE: Remove ATV to sleep?

I have no garage in my TH and sometimes we sleep over at a Flying J for 5 or 6 hours. I leave the ATV's in there and have no problem with fuel odors. But like someone said, if you smell some fuel, just open the vent by the floor and let it ventilate. Happy Trails.
